Worshipful Master

For the Worshipful Master: the lodge at a glance

Sodalis gives the Worshipful Master an overview of his lodge: the season's attendance, papers, meetings and dues on a single dashboard. He prepares the year with his officers, leads admissions and gives each officer the access he needs.

The season on one dashboard

The dashboard follows the Masonic year: attendance rate, papers presented, meetings held, dues paid. The next meeting appears with the state of its summons, the brethren's intentions and its agape; a “To follow up” panel lists summonses to send, minutes to write or adopt, and pending dues.

The Statistics views extend that view: meeting rhythm, attendance by degree, brethren who have not yet presented a paper, membership movements.

Preparing the year with the officers

Annual planning rolls out the lodge's cadence, avoids public holidays and places the St John's festivals. The officers review the proposals, then publish the meetings, which stay hidden from the brethren until they are made visible. A paper outline can be sent to the brother due to speak.

Leading admissions

For each candidate, the Worshipful Master appoints the investigating brethren. Together with the administrators, he alone reads every report: each investigator sees only his own, and the other officers follow only the progress of the investigations. At the decision, each investigation is sealed.

The officers and their access

Holding an office grants no access by itself: Sodalis suggests a role from the office — administrator for the Worshipful Master, officer for the other offices — which an administrator applies or not. The Master thus keeps control over who enters the management area.

Visit requests from brethren of other lodges can be addressed to him by e-mail, and he replies directly. If he is prevented on a meeting night, the minutes name the brother who presided in his stead and provide for his signature.

Your questions

Does the Worshipful Master see the investigation reports?

Yes. He reads them all, as do the lodge's administrators; each investigator reads only his own.

Can we prepare every meeting of the year at once?

Yes, from the Planning view: the application proposes a calendar from your cadence, the officers adjust it, then publish the chosen meetings, hidden from the brethren at first.

Who assigns access roles?

An administrator of the lodge. A brother's office suggests a role, but nothing is applied automatically.

What does Sodalis provide if the Master is absent from a meeting?

The Secretary names, among the Master Masons present, the brother who presides. The minutes record it and provide for his signature.
